To Begin

Dancers need to be 4 years of age or older, be able to count to ten and hop to begin. Dancers wear a t-shirt, shorts, socks and dance shoes. Ballet slippers or gymnastic slippers are fine for beginners. As you attend a few classes light and hard shoes will be discussed.

One intent of class is to encourage the development of a dancer's independence. The studio spaces do not have chairs or seating areas, although some have a waiting area. Parents are welcome to be in studio during their child's first class.

Beginner classes range from 6-12 dancers. The beginner classes have dancers from 4-12 years of age in the same group. All dancers progress at their own pace, so a class with a range of ages and abilities has many advantages. The advanced classes work in a similar manner.

The average monthly cost for beginners is $56 (approx. $14/class). If dancers become involved in more classes the cost will increase. Contact us for more information.

Dancers do not have to compete but they are encouraged to participate in community performances. All dancers are expected to participate in the annual recital in June. Recital costumes are the same as worn for other performances throughout the year. Dancers can also take part in various community performances such as fund-raisers, weddings, school talent shows, programs at seniors' residences, etc. The dancers are especially busy in March, as they perform at many events celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

Every effort is made to keep additional expenses to a minimum. Dancers will need to purchase some shoes. Those performing or competing will need a class costume and those choosing to compete will be responsible for competition fees.
